NGOs We Support
Why we support these NGOs
“Charities” and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are manifestations of active citizenship: ordinary people working together to bring about social change. As expressions of ‘people power’, NGOs come in all shapes and sizes and choose to act in different ways, reflecting the interests of their supporters and their core values.
Providing relief to victims of disaster and assisting the poor
“Give a man a fish”
Reducing people’s vulnerability, through income diversification and savings
“Teach a man to fish”
Increasing people’s chances and opportunities
“Organize a Fishermans’ Co-Op”
Redressing social, political and economic exclusion or oppression
“Protect Fishing & Fishing Rights”
NGOs operate at their best when they channel the energy and drive of their supporters and staff towards professional ways of working and effective, high-impact programmes that improve the lives of poor people. The most effective NGOs are those that work to their strengths, and that is able to mobilise the skills of the people they serve. For NGOs, the impact is linked to their responsiveness to people’s needs, and clout comes not from size, but from the strength of their bonds with all those affected by, or interested in, their work.
Open Letter to NGOs in Lebanon
Leaders of Change is an Australian not-for-profit that partners with organisations and communities to develop local leadership and capacity to create and maintain positive change. We have strong connections with Lebanese communities, both in Australia and overseas.
Following the explosion that took place at the Port of Beirut on August 4th, 2020, we launched this funding campaign to support emergency relief and recovery efforts. Rise Lebanon connects Australian donors to trusted humanitarian aid groups working on the ground to help people affected by the blast. We collect donations and allocate these funds to NGOs providing food, shelter, medical care, and reconstruction assistance.
Thanks to the generosity of donors from across Australia, we are thrilled to be able to support the work that you and other NGOs are doing to help the Lebanese people with safe recovery. We would like to offer a portion of our charitable proceeds to your NGO. If you would like to accept this offer, please fill out the form below. Part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, we ask you to please provide us with as much information as you can about how our donations support.
Once you have registered below, we give your NGO permission to disclose or publicise any donation that we make and would be very thankful if you could share and promote our campaign.
We look forward to working together to help the Lebanese people recover from this tragedy.
